Introducing the Via Jacobi Highlights — a journey through the heart of Switzerland where you can discover the hidden gems and breathtaking scenery of the country's northern lakes.
This walking holiday offers a unique perspective on Switzerland, exploring the regions where most of its population lives. With the rolling green hills as your playground, you'll experience the true essence of this magnificent country.
It’s part of Camino de Santiago or Way of St. James, a pilgrimage route network leading to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. We chose the best days of its Swiss section, taking you from Lake Constance to Lake Zurich, exploring the stunning regions in between. Along the way, you will discover hidden gems, such as baroque cathedrals, historic monasteries, and delicious local cuisine.
The Via Jacobi Highlights offers a change of pace from the more strenuous Alpine hikes, taking you on a scenic journey through charming lakeside towns, pastures, and wooded areas. Everyone can experience the culture and beauty of everyday Switzerland while marveling at the stunning backdrop of the white Alps. Even off-season (available from March to October), when the higher mountain passes are fully covered in snow.
Daily distances average around 20 kilometers, which is typical for pilgrimages. However, the added challenge of gaining approximately 600 meters in altitude each day makes it especially rewarding, perfect for those looking for more than just a leisurely tour. To accommodate the longest stages of the hike, the itinerary includes two scheduled rides by train and bus.
At Walking Holidays Switzerland, we strive to provide a hassle-free and delightful experience. To accomplish this, we handle all your logistics, including booking your accommodations and providing a comprehensive itinerary booklet, and GPS routes. Additionally, we are available for 24/7 support, so you can fully immerse yourself in your walking journey without any worries.
Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of Switzerland like never before. Inquire now to learn more about the Via Jacobi Highlights and start planning your adventure today!

We had a lovely hike today with our guide Klemen. He personalized the tour on our needs and interests, so that we saw places we wouldn't without his experience. The hike was a little bit slippery after the rain from the last days and it went a lot upwards, but it was totally worth it! Thanks again :)

The Kesch Trek in Switzerland was everything I hoped for and more. The trails were well-marked and took me through breathtaking alpine scenery, from wildflower meadows to towering glaciers. The huts were some of the best I’ve stayed in—comfortable, welcoming, and serving delicious food. Samo’s tips about the region helped me get the most out of every day. This was a perfect way to explore the Swiss Alps, and I can’t wait to plan my next hut-to-hut adventure!
My High Tatras hike was a wonderful balance of challenge and beauty. The dramatic peaks and sparkling mountain lakes were a constant highlight. The huts were well-maintained, with good food and welcoming staff. I appreciated the flexibility of the route and how easy it was to follow the itinerary provided. Thanks to Samo’s guidance, I felt confident and prepared. This hike introduced me to a part of Europe I’d never explored before, and I can’t wait to return.
Carros de Foc was an unforgettable experience. The loop took me through stunning high-altitude landscapes with glacial lakes, rocky ridges, and peaceful valleys. The huts were perfectly located and offered a great place to unwind after a full day of hiking. Anja’s recommendations on pacing and what to pack were spot-on, making the entire experience seamless. This trek is ideal for those who want to fully immerse themselves in the Pyrenees’ natural beauty.
The GR20 was the most challenging hike I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. The rugged ridgelines, dramatic peaks, and incredible Corsican sunsets made every tough climb worth it. The huts were simple but offered hearty meals and a chance to connect with other hikers. Anja gave me excellent advice on how to prepare for the GR20, which made all the difference. If you’re looking for a true test of endurance paired with breathtaking scenery, this is it!
The Laugavegur Trail in Iceland blew me away. The geothermal valleys, vibrant mountains, and sweeping glaciers made every step feel surreal. The huts along the way were basic but comfortable, offering a great place to rest after long days of hiking. The team at Hut to Hut Hiking Europe provided everything I needed to feel prepared, including a detailed itinerary and plenty of advice. This hike is truly one-of-a-kind—I’m already dreaming of my next trip to Iceland.
